Strictly necessary technology
Our hosting and security infrastructure may process technical request information or use strictly necessary technologies to deliver pages, balance traffic, detect abuse and maintain security. These functions cannot be switched off through a consent tool because they are required to provide the service safely.
After the Gatehouse question is answered correctly, the site stores a small functional value named mirage:admission:v1 in the browser’s local storage. This prevents the cinematic introduction from being repeatedly shown on that browser. The value does not contain the answer, identify the visitor or track activity across websites. It remains until local site data is cleared.
If a visitor selects a language—or the site detects Italian or Romanian from the browser’s stated language on the first visit—the preference is stored locally asmirage:language:v1. It is used only to retain the chosen site language and is not based on precise location.

If this changes
Before enabling optional analytics, advertising or other non-essential storage, we will update this notice and introduce a choice mechanism that allows visitors to accept or reject those technologies before they are used. Future member and shop services may also require strictly necessary session, security, basket or checkout cookies; those will be documented when the services are introduced.
